Chapter: The recommendation of delaying the Isha prayer if one does not fear falling asleep before it

H and us Ahmad bin Abdah, Sufyan bin Uyaynah told us, on the authority of Amr bin Dinar, and Ibn Jurayj, on the authority of Ata’, on the authority of Ibn Abbas. H and us Abdul Jabbar, once, he said: Sufyan told us, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, on the authority of Ata’, on the authority of Ibn Abbas. H and Amr, on the authority of Ata’, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, delayed the evening prayer one night, so Omar went out and said: Prayers, O Messenger of God! He says: “If it were not that I would make it difficult for my nation, I would have ordered them to pray at this hour.” One of them said: The time has come, unless I make it difficult for my nation. This is the wording of the hadith of Abdul Jabbar when he combined the hadith, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj and Amr. Ibn Dinar, and he said when he reported the news of Ibn Jurayj: “It is time, had I not made it difficult for my nation,” and Ahmad Ibn Abdah said: “If I had not made it difficult “I have commanded the believers to pray this prayer at this hour.”

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایک رات نماز عشاء مؤخر کردی تو سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ باہر نکلے اور عرض کی کہ اے اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ، نماز (پڑھا دیجئے) عورتیں اور بچّے سو گئے ہیں۔ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم باہر تشریف لائے جبکہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے سر مبارک سے پانی کے قطرے گر رہے تھے اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اپنی دونوں جانب سے پانی جھاڑ رہے تھے۔ اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم فرما رہے تھے کہ ”اگر مجھے خدشہ نہ ہوتا کہ میں اپنی اُمّت کو مشقّت میں ڈال دوں گا تو میں اُنہیں (یہ نماز) اسی وقت پڑھنے کا حُکم دیتا۔“ (ابن جریج اور عمر) دو میں سے کسی ایک نے یہ الفاظ روایت کئے کہ ”یہی وقت ہے اگر مجھے یہ خیال نہ ہوتا کہ میں اپنی اُمّت کو مشکل و مشقت میں ڈال دوں گا۔“ یہ عبدالجبار کی حدیث کے الفاظ ہیں جب اُنہوں نے ابن جریح اور عمر بن دینار سے روایت کو جمع کر کے بیان کیا۔ اور جب ابن جریح کی روایت کو منفرد بیان کیا تو کہا کہ ”یہی وقت ہے کہ اگر مجھے یہ ڈر نہ ہوتا کہ میں اپنی اُمُت کو مشقْت میں ڈال دوں گا۔“ احمد بن عبدہ نے اپنی روایت میں یہ الفاظ بیان کیے ہیں کہ ”اگر مُجھے یہ خدشہ نہ ہوتا کہ میں مؤمنوں کومُشقّت میں ڈال دوں گا تو میں اُنہیں یہ نماز اسی وقت ادا کرنے کا حُکم دیتا۔

At dinner one night, Omar called him and said: The women and children were asleep, so he went out to them and said: “No one is waiting for this prayer.” “From the people of the earth other than you.” Al-Zuhri said: No one was praying that day except those in Medina.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما بیان کرتے ہیں ایک رات رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے نماز عشاء کو مؤخر کر دیا تو سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے با آواز آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے عرض کی کہ (حضور) عورتیں اور بچّے سو گئے ہیں تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اُن کی طرف تشریف لائے اور فرمایا: ”اہل زمین میں سے تمہارے سوا کوئی بھی اس نماز کا انتظار نہیں کررہا۔“ امام زہری رحمہ اللہ فرماتے ہیں کہ اُن دنوں صرف اہل مدینہ ہی نماز پڑھتے تھے۔

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما بیان کرتے ہیں کہ ہم ایک رات نماز عشاء کے لیے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا انتظار کر رہے تھے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ہمارے پاس تہائی رات گزر جانے کے بعد تشریف لائے۔ اور ہمیں معلوم نہیں کہ کس چیز نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے گھر والوں میں یا کسی اور کام میں مشغول کر دیا تھا۔ جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تشریف لائے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”بیشک تم اس نماز کا انتظار کر رہے ہو کہ تمہارے سوا کوئی مذہب والے اس کا انتظار نہیں کررہے۔ اور اگر مجھے یہ ڈر نہ ہوتا کہ میری اُمّت پر گراں ہوگا تو میں اُنہیں (یہ نماز) اسی وقت پڑھاتا۔“ پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مؤذّن کو حُکم دیا تو اُس نے نماز کی اقامت کہی تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے نماز پڑھائی۔

He said: We waited for the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, for the evening prayer until half of the night had passed, then he came and led us in prayer, then he said: “Take Your seats, for the people have taken their resting places, and you will not cease in prayer since you have been waiting for it, were it not for the weakness of the weak, the sickness of the sick, and the need of the Needless to say, I would have delayed this prayer until the middle of the night.” This is the hadith of Bundar

سیدنا ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ ہم نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا نماز عشاء کے لئے تقریبا آدھی رات تک انتظار کیا۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تشریف لائے اور ہمیں نماز پڑھائی اور فرمایا: ”اپنی نشستوں کو سنبھالو۔ بیشک لوگ سو چُکے ہیں۔ بیشک تم جب سے نماز کا انتظار کر رہے ہو، اُس وقت سے مسلسل نماز ہی میں ہو۔ اور اگر مجھے کمزور شخص کی کمزوری، بیمار شخص کی بیماری اور حاجت مند کی حاجت و ضرورت کا خیال نہ ہوتا تو میں اس نماز کوآدھی رات تک مؤخر کر دیتا۔“ یہ بندار کی حدیث ہے۔
