قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: فِي خَبَرِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مِقْسَمٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، كَانَ مُعَاذٌ يُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعِشَاءَ، ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ فَيُصَلِّي بِأَصْحَابِهِ. قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: قَدْ أَمْلَيْتُ هَذِهِ الْمَسْأَلَةَ بِتَمَامِهَا، بَيَّنْتُ فِيهَا أَخْبَارَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ أَنَّهُ صَلَّى بِإِحْدَى الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ تَطَوُّعًا، وَصَلَّوْا خَلْفَهُ فَرِيضَةً لَهُمْ، فَكَانَتْ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَطَوُّعًا، وَلَهُمْ فَرِيضَةً.
EnglishUnverified translation
Narrated Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (RA): He reported, "In the narration transmitted by Ubaydullah ibn Miqsam, on the authority of Jabir ibn Abdullah (RA): Mu'adh ibn Jabal (RA) used to pray the 'Isha (night) prayer with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), then he would return and pray with his companions. Abu Bakr (RA) then said: 'I have fully detailed this matter in its entirety, and I have clarified therein the reports of the Prophet (ﷺ) regarding the prayer of fear (Salat al-Khawf): that the Prophet (ﷺ) prayed with one of the two groups as a voluntary (nafl) prayer, while they prayed behind him an obligatory (fard) prayer for themselves. Thus, it was a voluntary prayer for the Prophet (ﷺ) and an obligatory one for them.'"

سیدنا جابر رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ سیدنا معاذ رضی اللہ عنہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ عشاء کی نماز پڑھتے تھے، پھر واپس جاکر اپنے ساتھیوں کو نماز پڑھاتے۔ امام ابوبکر رحمه الله فرماتے ہیں کہ میں یہ مسئلہ مکمّل لکھوا چکا ہوں۔ میں اس مسئلہ میں نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی احادیث نماز خوف کے بارے میں بیان کر چکا ہوں کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایک گروہ کو نفل نماز پڑھائی جبکہ اُنہوں نے آپ کے پیچھے فرض نماز ادا کی۔ اس طرح وہ نماز نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے لئے نفل تھی اور اُن کے لئے فرض تھی۔
