Narrated to us ‘Abd al-Jabbar ibn al-‘Ala and Sa‘id ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Makhzumi (RA), they said: Sufyan narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Anas ibn Malik (RA). Also, Muhammad ibn ‘Aziz al-Ayli informed us that Salamah ibn Ruwh narrated to them, from ‘Uqayl, who said: Muhammad ibn Muslim informed me, from Anas ibn Malik al-Ansari (RA), who informed him: The Muslims were in the Fajr prayer on a Monday, with Abu Bakr (RA) leading them in prayer. They were suddenly surprised by the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) having drawn aside the curtain of ‘A’ishah’s (RA) chamber, looking at them as they stood in rows for prayer. Then he smiled and laughed. Abu Bakr (RA) stepped back on his heels to join the row, thinking that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) intended to come out to lead the prayer. Anas (RA) said: The Muslims almost became confused in their prayer out of joy at seeing the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gestured to them to complete their prayer. He then entered the chamber and drew the curtain between himself and them. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) passed away on that day. This is the narration of Muhammad ibn ‘Aziz, and he has the most complete and best-arranged chain for this hadith. Abu Bakr (RA) said: In the report of ‘Abd al-Warith ibn Sa‘id, from ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn Suhayb, from Anas (RA): The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) did not come out to us for three days. I have recorded it in al-Kabir. ‘Imran ibn Musa al-Qazzaz narrated to us, and ‘Abd al-Warith narrated to us. --- **CHAPTER:**
