It was narrated to us that Abu Rafi’ said: “I struck the canopy for the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), though he had not commanded me to do so. Then he came and dismounted, and I had not been commanded to strike the canopy in that place. It was not that he intended for the Prophet (ﷺ) to descend in al-Abṭaḥ because of the striking of the canopy, but rather he knew that the Prophet (ﷺ) would indeed descend in al-Abṭaḥ.” **CHAPTER:**

میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا خیمہ وادی ابطح میں لگایا تھا اور آپ نے مجھے خیمہ لگانے کا حُکم نہیں دیا تھا۔ بس آپ تشریف لائے اور خیمے میں فروکش ہوگئے۔ یعنی آپ نے مجھے اس جگہ خیمہ لگانے کا حُکم نہیں دیا تھا۔ حضرت ابورافع کا یہ مطلب نہیں کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم وادی ابطح میں خیمہ لگا ہو نے کی وجہ سے اُترے تھے۔

** Narrated to us Muhammad ibn ‘Uzayr al-Aylī, that Salamah narrated to them, from ‘Uqayl, from Ibn Shihāb, from Abū Salamah, from Abū Hurayrah (RA) that the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ), when he intended to depart from Minā, said: *"We will, if Allāh wills, tomorrow alight at Khayf Banī Kinānah, where they took an oath of unbelief."* He meant by this al-Muḥaṣṣab. Then he mentioned the hadith in the same manner as the hadith of Yūnus, identical. Abū Bakr said: The Prophet’s (ﷺ) question about where he would alight the next day during his pilgrimage is narrated only from al-Zuhrī, from Abū Salamah, from Abū Hurayrah. As for the latter part of the narration: *"A Muslim does not inherit from a disbeliever, nor does a disbeliever inherit from a Muslim,"* this is narrated from ‘Alī ibn Ḥusayn, from ‘Amr ibn ‘Uthmān, from Usāmah (RA), and from Ma‘mar—whom I believe erred in combining the two stories under this chain. I have explained the cause of this report’s weakness in my book al-Kabīr.

Narrated to us Muhammad ibn Yahya, narrated to us 'Abd al-Razzaq, informed us Ma'mar, on the authority of al-Zuhri, from 'Ali ibn Husayn, from 'Amr ibn 'Uthman, from Usamah ibn Zayd (RA), who said: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), where will you stay tomorrow?' — and this was during his (ﷺ) Hajj. He (ﷺ) said: 'Did 'Aqil leave us any place to stay?' Then he (ﷺ) said: 'We will stay tomorrow at Khayf Bani Kinanah, where Quraysh pledged against disbelief. That is because Bani Kinanah had allied with Quraysh against Bani Hashim, that they would not marry them, nor give them allegiance, nor grant them refuge.' Ma'mar said: al-Zuhri said: 'And al-Khayf is the valley.' Then he (ﷺ) said: 'A disbeliever does not inherit from a Muslim, nor does a Muslim inherit from a disbeliever.'" **CHAPTER:**

Narrated to us by Khabar Ibn Rafi’ who mentioned it, Nasr ibn ‘Ali al-Jahdami, ‘Abd al-Jabbar ibn al-‘Ala’, and ‘Ali ibn Khashram. ‘Abd al-Jabbar said: Sufyan narrated to us. Nasr said: Sufyan ibn ‘Uyaynah informed us. Ibn Khashram said: Ibn ‘Uyaynah informed us. From Salih ibn Kaysan, from Sulayman ibn Yasar, from Abu Rafi’ (RA) who said: "I pitched the tent of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) at al-Abṭaḥ, though he had not commanded me to settle at al-Abṭaḥ. Then he came and settled there." This is the wording of Nasr. ‘Ali said: Abu Rafi’ (RA) said: "He did not command me to settle at al-Abṭaḥ. Rather, I came and pitched his tent, then he came and settled there." ‘Abd al-Jabbar said: The Prophet (ﷺ) did not command me to pitch his tent. Rather, I pitched the tent of the Prophet (ﷺ) at al-Abṭaḥ, then he came and settled there. And ‘Abd al-Jabbar added: Abu Rafi’ (RA) was in charge of the baggage.
