Narrated to us Ahmad ibn Mani' and Ziyad ibn Ayyub, they said: Isma'il narrated to us, Ahmad said: Ayyub narrated to us, and Ziyad said: Ayyub informed us, from Nafi'. Also narrated to us Sa'id ibn Abd al-Rahman: Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah narrated to us, from Ayyub al-Sakhtiyani, from Nafi'. Also narrated to us Muhammad ibn Bashshar: Yahya narrated to us, 'Ubaydullah narrated to us. Also narrated to us Yahya ibn Hakim: Hammad (meaning ibn Mas'adah) narrated to us, from 'Ubaydullah. Also narrated to us Yahya, and Abu Yahya (meaning Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Uthman) narrated to us: 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Umar narrated to us. This is the narration of Bundar. Nafi' narrated to him from Ibn 'Umar (RA) that he called out the Adhan, then said: "Pray in your dwellings." Then he mentioned that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to do that on a rainy and cold night during a journey. Abu Bakr (Ibn Abi Shaybah) said: This wording regarding "a rainy and cold night" can be understood in two ways. One is that the night is both rainy and cold. The other is that he meant a rainy night and a cold night, even if both conditions did not occur together in a single night. The report of Hammad ibn Zayd indicates that he intended one of the two meanings: either the night was rainy, or it was cold. **CHAPTER:**
