أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ , قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ : " يُبَايِعُ النَّاسَ بِالْكَلامِ بِهَذِهِ الآيَةِ أَنْ لا يُشْرِكْنَ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا ،ومَا مَسَّتْ يَدُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ يَدَ امْرَأَةٍ قَطُّ ، إِلا يَدَ امْرَأَةٍ يَمْلِكُهَا "

Ma'mar reported from al-Zuhri, from Urwa, from Aisha, she said: the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to pledge allegiance to people by speech with this verse: that they associate nothing with Allah. And the hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) never touched the hand of a woman except the hand of a woman he owned.

أَخْبَرَنَا الثَّوْرِيُّ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ أُمَيْمَةَ ابْنَةِ رَقِيقَةَ , قَالَتْ : جِئْتُ فِي نِسَاءٍ أُبَايِعُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ ، فَاشْتَرَطَ عَلَيْنَا أَلا نَزْنِيَ ، وَلا نَسْرِقَ ، وهَذِهِ الآيَةَ , قَالَتْ : فَبَايَعْنَاهُ ، فَاشْتَرَطَ عَلَيْنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُنَّ وأَطَقْتُنَّ , قَالَتْ : فَقُلْنَا : اللَّهُ ورَسُولُهُ أَرْحَمُ بِنَا مِنْ أَنْفُسِنَا , قَالَتْ : فَقُلْنَا : أَلا نُصَافِحُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَقَالَ :إِنِّي لا أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ ، إِنَّمَا قَوْلِي لامْرَأَةٍ كَقَوْلِي لِمِائَةِ امْرَأَةٍ "

Al-Thawri reported from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir, from Umayma bint Ruqayqa, she said: I came with women to pledge allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he stipulated upon us that we not commit adultery nor steal, and this verse. She said: so we pledged allegiance to him, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stipulated upon us, he said: as much as you are able and can bear. She said: so we said: Allah and His Messenger are more merciful to us than ourselves. She said: so we said: will you not shake hands with us, O Messenger of Allah? He said: I do not shake hands with women; my word to one woman is like my word to a hundred women.

From Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Urwa, from Aisha, she said: Fatima bint Utba ibn Rabi'a came to pledge allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he took upon her that she associate nothing with Allah, the verse. She said: so she placed her hand on her head out of shyness, and what he saw of her pleased the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Aisha said: affirm, O woman, for by Allah he pledged allegiance from us only upon this. She said: yes then. So he pledged allegiance from her upon the verse.

From Ma'mar, from Thabit, from Anas, he said: the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took upon women when he pledged them that they not wail. They said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), women helped us in wailing in the pre-Islamic time, shall we help them in Islam? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: there is no helping in wailing in Islam.

أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، وعَبْدُ اللَّهِ ابْنَا عُمَرَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّ ثُمَامَةَ الْحَنَفِيَّ أُسِرَ ، فَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ يَغْدُو إِلَيْهِ ، فَيَقُولُ : مَا عِنْدَكَ يَا ثُمَامَةُ ؟ فَيَقُولُ : إِنْ تَقْتُلْ تَقْتُلْ ذَا دَمٍ ، وإِنْ تَمُنَّ عَلَى شَاكِرٍ ، وإِنْ تَرُدَّ الْمَالَ نُعْطِ مِنْهُ مَا شِئْتَ ، وكَانَ أَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ يُحِبُّونَ الْفِدَاءَ ، ويَقُولُونَ : مَا نَصْنَعُ بِقَتْلِ هَذَا ؟ فَمَرَّ عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا ، فَأَسْلَمَ فَحَلَّهَ ، وبَعَثَ بِهِ إِلَى حَائِطِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ،فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ فَاغْتَسَلَ ، وصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ : لَقَدْ حَسُنَ إِسْلامُ أَخِيكمُ "

Ubaydullah and Abdullah sons of Umar reported from Sa'id al-Maqburi, from Abu Hurayra, that Thumama al-Hanafi was captured, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to come to him in the morning saying: what do you have, O Thumama? He would say: if you kill, you kill one with blood, and if you bestow favor you bestow upon one grateful, and if you want wealth we will give of it what you wish. The Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) liked ransom and said: what shall we do by killing this one? One day the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by him and he became Muslim, so he freed him and sent him to the garden of Abu Talha and ordered him to wash, so he washed and prayed two rak'as. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: the Islam of your brother has become good.

She said: the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: gently, O Aisha, Allah loves gentleness in all matters. That was in the Hajj of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He said: has Aqil ibn Abi Talib left us any house? Then he said: a Muslim does not inherit a disbeliever, nor a disbeliever a Muslim. Then he said: tomorrow we shall stay at Khayf Bani Kinana, where Quraysh covenanted upon disbelief, meaning al-Abtah. Al-Zuhri said: al-khayf is the valley. He said: that is because Quraysh allied with Banu Bakr against Banu Hashim that they would not sit with them, nor marry them, nor trade with them, nor shelter them.
