Then Abu Sufyan came and said: O Messenger of Allah, you have destroyed the green of Quraysh; there shall be no Quraysh after today. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever closes his door is safe, and whoever enters the house of Abu Sufyan is safe, and whoever lays down his weapon is safe." The leaders and notables of Quraysh took refuge in the Kabah, meaning they entered it. He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came and performed tawaf around the House, and he passed by those idols, striking them with the bowstring, and saying: "Truth has come and falsehood has vanished; indeed, falsehood is bound to vanish" (Quran 17:81). When he had finished and prayed, he came and took hold of the two doorposts of the gate, and then said: "O company of Quraysh, what do you say?" They said: We say: A brother's son, and a nephew who is merciful and generous. Then he repeated the question to them, and they said the same. He said: "Then I say as my brother Yusuf said: 'No blame upon you today; may Allah forgive you, and He is the Most Merciful of the merciful'" (Quran 12:92). So they went out and pledged allegiance to him upon Islam. Then he went to al-Safa for the appointment with the Ansar. He stood upon al-Safa at a place from which he could see the House. He praised Allah and extolled Him and mentioned His support for him. The Ansar, who were below him, said: As for this man, compassion for his kin and desire for his clan have overcome him, and the revelation came to him concerning that. Abu Hurayrah said: Whenever revelation came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, none of us could raise his gaze to him until the revelation had passed from him. When the revelation was completed, he said: "Come now, O company of the Ansar. You said: As for this man, compassion for his kin and desire for his clan have overcome him. By Allah, I am indeed the Messenger of Allah. I have emigrated to Allah, and then to you. My life is your life, and my death is your death." Abu Hurayrah said: I saw the elders weeping until their tears moistened their beards. Then they said: An excuse before Allah and His Messenger. By Allah, we only said what we said out of concern for Allah and His Messenger. He said: "Then Allah has confirmed you and His Messenger, and He has accepted your words."

أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، نا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، نا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، قَالَ : وَحَدَّثَنِي سَلامُ بْنُ مِسْكِينِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ النَّمَرِيُّ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، قَالَ : وَفَدْنَا إِلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ , وَمَعَنَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ، وَذَلِكَ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ ، فَكَانَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ يَدْعُو كَثِيرًا إِلَى رَحْلِهِ ، فَقُلْتُ لأَهْلِي : اجْعَلُوا لَنَا طَعَامًا ، فَفَعَلُوا ، فَلَقِيتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ بِالْعَشِيِّ , فَقُلْتُ : الدَّعْوَةُ عِنْدِي اللَّيْلَةَ ، فَقَالَ : لَقَدْ سَبَقْتَنِي إِلَيْهَا ، فَقُلْتُ : أَجَلْ ، قَالَ : فَجَاءَنَا ، فَقَالَ : يَا مَعْشَرَ الأَنْصَارِ ، أَلا أُعْلِمُكُمْ بِحَدِيثٍ مِنْ حَدِيثِكُمْ ؟ قَالَ : لَمَّا فَتْحَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَكَّةَ , اسْتَعْمَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الزُّبَيْرَ بْنَ الْعَوَّامِ عَلَى إِحْدَى الْمُجَنِّبَتَيْنِ ، وَخَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ عَلَى الأُخْرَى ، قَالَ : فَبَصُرَ بِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي كَبْكَبَةٍ , فَهَتَفَ بِي ، قُلْتُ : لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ . قَالَ : " اهْتِفْ لِي بِالأَنْصَارِ " ، فَهَتَفْتُ بِهِمْ ، فَطَافُوا بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا عَلَى مِيعَادٍ ، قَالَ : " يَا مَعْشَرَ الأَنْصَارِ ، إِنَّ قُرَيْشًا قَدْ جَمَعُوا لَنَا ، فَإِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ فَاحْصُدُوهُمْ حَصْدًا ، حَتَّى تُوَافُونِي بِالصَّفَا ، الصَّفَا مِيعَادُكُمْ " ، قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : فَمَا لَقِينَا مِنْهُمْ أَحَدًا إِلا فَعَلْنَا بِهِ كَذَا وَكَذَا ، وَجَاءَ أَبُو سُفْيَانَ , فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَبَحْتَ خَضْرَاءَ قُرَيْشٍ ، لا قُرَيْشَ بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ أَغْلَقَ بَابَهُ فَهُوَ آمِنٌ ، وَمَنْ دَخَلَ دَارَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ فَهُوَ آمِنٌ ، وَمَنْ أَلْقَى السِّلاحَ فَهُوَ آمِنٌ " ، وَلَجَأَتْ صَنَادِيدُ قُرَيْشٍ وَعُظَمَاؤُهَا إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ ، يَعْنِي دَخَلُوا فِيهَا , قَالَ : فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ ، فَجَعَلَ يَمُرُّ بِتِلْكَ الأَصْنَامِ , فَيَطْعَنُهَا بِسِيَةِ الْقَوْسِ وَيَقُولُ : جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ الْبَاطِلُ إِنَّ الْبَاطِلَ كَانَ زَهُوقًا , حَتَّى إِذَا فَرَغَ وَصَلَّى جَاءَ فَأَخَذَ بِعَضَادَتَيِ الْبَابِ , ثُمَّ قَالَ : " يَا مَعْشَرَ قُرَيْشٍ ، مَا تَقُولُونَ ؟ " ، قَالُوا : نَقُولُ : ابْنُ أَخٍ ، وَابْنُ عَمٍّ رَحِيمٌ كَرِيمٌ . ثُمَّ عَادَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقَوْلَ , قَالُوا مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ ، قَالَ : " فَإِنِّي أَقُولُ كَمَا قَالَ أَخِي يُوسُفُ : لا تَثْرِيبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ يَغْفِرُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ " ، فَخَرَجُوا فَبَايَعُوهُ عَلَى الإِسْلامِ , ثُمَّ أَتَى الصَّفَا لِمِيعَادِ الأَنْصَارِ ، فَقَامَ عَلَى الصَّفَا عَلَى مَكَانٍ يَرَى الْبَيْتَ مِنْهُ ، فَحَمِدَ اللَّهُ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ، وَذَكَرَ نَصَرَهُ إِيَّاهُ ، فَقَالَتِ الأَنْصَارُ ، وَهُمْ أَسْفَلُ مِنْهُ : أَمَّا الرَّجُلُ فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَتْهُ رَأْفَةٌ لِقَرَابَتِهِ ، وَرَغْبَتُهُ فِي عَشِيرَتِهِ ، فَجَاءَهُ الْوَحْيُ بِذَلِكَ ، قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا جَاءَهُ الْوَحْيُ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ أَحَدٌ مِنَّا يَرْفَعُ طَرْفَهُ إِلَيْهِ حَتَّى يَنْقَضِيَ الْوَحْيُ عَنْهُ ، فَلَمَّا قُضِيَ الْوَحْيُ , قَالَ : " هِيهِ يَا مَعْشَرَ الأَنْصَارِ ، قُلْتُمْ : أَمَّا الرَّجُلُ فَأَدْرَكْتُهُ رَأْفَةٌ بِقَرَابَتِهِ وَرَغْبَةٌ فِي عَشِيرَتِهِ ، وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، لَقَدْ هَاجَرْتُ إِلَى اللَّهِ ، ثُمَّ إِلَيْكُمُ ، الْمَحْيَا مَحْيَاكُمْ ، وَالْمَمَاتُ مَمَاتُكُمْ " ، قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : فَرَأَيْتُ الشِّيُوخَ يَبْكُونَ ، حَتَّى بَلَّ الدُّمُوعُ لِحَاهُمْ ، ثُمَّ قَالُوا : مَعْذِرَةً إِلَى اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ، وَاللَّهِ مَا قُلْنَا الَّذِي قُلْنَا إِلا ضَنًّا بِاللَّهِ وَبِرَسُولِهِ ، قَالَ : " فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ صَدَقَكُمْ وَرَسُولُهُ ، وَقَبِلَ قَوْلَكُمْ "
