Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated, saying: Muhammad ibn Ja`far narrated to us, saying: Shu`bah narrated to us, on the authority of Qatada, on the authority of Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Minhal. Al-Khuza’i, on the authority of his uncle, that the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said to Aslam: “Fast today.” They said: We had already eaten. He said: “Fast.” for the rest of your day,” meaning the day of Ashura, the opposite of which is happy. (Peace Be Upon Him)
