1102 - Yunus narrated to us, he said: Ibn Wahb informed us that Malik informed him, from Ibn Shihab, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, from Abu Hurayra, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Congregational prayer is better than the prayer of one of you alone by twenty-five parts. Abu Ja'far said: Someone said: These two hadiths contradict one another, because in one of them the congregational prayer exceeds the lone prayer by twenty-seven degrees, while in the other it exceeds it by twenty-five parts. Our answer to him in that, by Allah's guidance and help, is there is no contradiction in them; it is possible that what Allah Almighty first made of virtue for congregational prayer over the lone prayer was twenty-five degrees, as in the hadith of Abu Hurayra of the two, then Allah Almighty increased in its virtue over the lone prayer two further parts, as in the hadith of Ibn 'Umar. That was an increase, not a contradiction. And with Allah is success.

1102 - یونس نے ہم سے بیان کیا، کہا: ابن وہب نے ہمیں خبر دی کہ مالک نے انہیں خبر دی، ابن شہاب سے، سعید بن مسیب سے، ابو ہریرہ سے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جماعت کی نماز تم میں سے ایک کی اکیلے نماز سے پچیس حصوں سے افضل ہے۔ ابو جعفر نے کہا: ایک کہنے والے نے کہا: یہ دو حدیثیں ایک دوسرے کے متضاد ہیں، کیونکہ ان میں سے ایک میں جماعت کی نماز اکیلے کی نماز سے ستائیس درجے بڑھتی ہے، اور دوسری میں وہ اس سے پچیس حصوں سے بڑھتی ہے۔ اس میں ہمارا جواب ان کو اللہ کی توفیق اور مدد سے یہ ہے کہ ان میں کوئی تضاد نہیں؛ ممکن ہے کہ جو اللہ عزوجل نے جماعت کی نماز کی فضیلت اکیلے کی نماز پر اول رکھی وہ پچیس درجے تھی، جیسا ان دو میں سے ابو ہریرہ کی حدیث میں ہے، پھر اللہ عزوجل نے اس کی فضیلت میں اکیلے کی نماز پر دو مزید حصے بڑھائے، جیسا ابن عمر کی حدیث میں ہے۔ تو وہ زیادتی تھی نہ کہ تضاد۔ وباللہ التوفیق۔
