The blessed. Some said: It is more worthy than the hadith of others, since he added over it, and the one who adds is more worthy than the one who omits. Others said: Rather the hadith of Ibn Masud, may Allah be pleased with him, and Abu Musa and Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them, which Mujahid and Ibn Babi narrated from him, is more worthy, due to the soundness of their chains and their agreement upon that, for Abu al-Zubayr does not equal al-Amash, nor Mansur, nor Mughirah, nor their likes among those who narrated the hadith of Ibn Masud, may Allah be pleased with him, nor does he equal Qatadah in the hadith of Abu Musa, nor Abu Bishr in the hadith of Ibn Umar. Had taking what is added been obligatory, even if below them, then taking what Ibn Nabil added over al-Layth from Abu al-Zubayr would be obligatory, for he said in the tashahhud also: In the name of Allah; and taking what Abu Aslam added from Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr would be obligatory, for he said in the tashahhud also: In the name of Allah, and added also over what is in that of addition over the hadith of Ibn Masud, may Allah be pleased with them. Since this addition is not accepted, because none like him added it over al-Layth, the addition of Ibn Abi al-Zubayr in the hadith of Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them, over Ata ibn Abi Rabah is not accepted, for Ibn Jurayj narrated it from Ata, from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them, as mawquf; and Abu al-Zubayr narrated it from Said ibn Jubayr and Tawus, from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them, as marfu. Had all these hadiths been established and equal in their chains, the hadith of Abdullah would be the worthiest of them, for they agreed that a man may not recite tashahhud with whatever tashahhud he wishes other than what was narrated of that. Since it is established that the tashahhud is with specific remembrance, and what Abdullah narrated was agreed to by all who narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) besides him, while others added over it what is not in his tashahhud, what was agreed upon of that is worthier to recite tashahhud with than what was differed over. And another proof is that we saw Abdullah was strict in that, to the point he held his companions to the waw in it, so they would agree with the wording of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and we know of no one else who did that. For this we preferred what was narrated from Abdullah over what was narrated from others. Among what was narrated from Abdullah on what we mentioned is what
