Chapter: Mentioning the severe warning against delaying the afternoon prayer until the sun turns yellow

Ali bin Hajar Al-Saadi told us, Ismail told us, meaning Ibn Jafar, Al-Alaa bin Abdul Rahman bin Yaqoub told us, that he entered upon Anas Ibn Malik was in his house in Basra, until he finished the noon prayer. He said: His house was next to the mosque. When we entered it, he said: Did you pray the afternoon prayer? We said to him: We had just finished the noon hour. He said: They prayed the afternoon prayer, so we stood up and prayed. When we departed, he said: I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. God, upon him be peace, says: “That is the prayer of the hypocrite. He sits and watches the sun, until when it is between the horns of Satan, he stands up and pecks it four times, without mentioning “Allah is therein except a little.” On the authority of Yunus bin Abdul-Ala, on the authority of Ibn Wahb, that Malik narrated to him, on the authority of Al-Ala’ bin Abdul-Rahman, on the authority of this.

حضرت علاء بن عبدالرحمٰن بن یعقوب بیان کرتے ہیں کہ وہ نمازِ ظہر ادا کرنے کے بعد بصرہ میں سیدنا انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس اُن کے گھر آئے، اور اُن کا گھر مسجد کے پہلو میں تھا۔ پھر جب ہم اُن کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئَے تو اُنہوں نے فرمایا کہ تم نے نماز عصر پڑھ لی ہے؟ ہم نے عرض کی کہ ہم تو ابھی نماز ظہر ادا کرکے آئے ہیں۔ اُنہوں نے فرمایا کہ نماز عصر ادا کرلو۔ لہٰذا ہم اُٹھے اور نماز (عصر) پڑھ لی، پھر جب ہم (نماز سے) فارغ ہوئے تو انہوں نے فرمایا کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سُنا، ”یہ منافق کی نماز ہے۔ وہ بیٹھا سورج کا انتظار کرتا رہتا ہے، یہاں تک کہ جب وہ شیطان کے دو سینگوں کے درمیان ہو جاتا ہے تو کھڑے ہو کر چار ٹھونگیں مار لیتا ہے، وہ اس میں بہت تھوڑا اللہ تعالیٰ کا ذکر کرتا ہے۔“ امام صاحب اپنے اُستاد یونس عبد الاعلیٰ کی سند سے حضرت علاء بن عبدالرحمان ہی سے مذکورہ بالا روایت کی طرح بیان کرتے ہیں۔

We are Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Bazi`, we are Abdul Rahman bin Othman al-Bakrawi Abu Bahr, we are Shu`bah, we are Al-Ala bin Abdul Rahman. Ibn Yaqub means, on the authority of Anas bin Malik, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said. He said: And I heard Abu Musa Muhammad bin Al-Muthanna say: I found in my book, in my own handwriting, in what I copied from the book, Ibn Ja’far, he said: Na Shu’bah, He said: I heard Al-Alaa bin Abdul-Rahman narrating, on the authority of Anas bin Malik, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “This is a prayer The hypocrite waits until when the sun turns yellow and it is between the horns of Satan, or on the horns of Satan, and he rises and pecks it four times. He does not remember God. Therein except a little.” This is the wording of the hadith of Abu Musa, and Ibn Bazi’ said: “Between the horns of Satan or within the horns of Satan,” and he said: Shu’bah said: “He pecked it four times without mentioning it.” God is therein except a little.”

سیدنا انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”بلاشبہ یہ منافق کی نماز ہے، وہ انتظار کرتا رہتا ہے۔ حتیٰ کہ سورج زرد ہو جاتا ہے اور شیطان کے دو سینگوں کے درمیان یا شیطان کے دو سینگوں پر ہوتا ہے تو کھڑا ہو جاتا ہے، اور چار ٹھونگیں مار لیتا ہے اس میں اللہ تعالیٰ کا ذکر بہت تھوڑا کرتا ہے۔“ یہ ابوموسیٰ کی حدیث کے الفاظ ہیں۔ ابن بزیغ کی روایت میں ہے کہ شیطان کے دو سینگوں کے درمیان یا شیطان کے دو سینگوں میں اور کہا کہ شعبہ کہتے ہیں کہ چار ٹھونگیں مار لیتا ہے اس میں اللہ تعالیٰ کو بہت تھوڑا یاد کرتا ہے۔
