Sahih

Narrated to us 'Abdul-Jabbar ibnul-'Ala', Sa'id ibn 'Abdur-Rahman, and Ahmad ibn Mani', and 'Ali ibn Khashram. 'Ali said: "On the authority of" and the others said: "Narrated to us Ibn 'Uyaynah, on the authority of 'Amr ibn Dinar, on the authority of 'Ata', on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas (RA): *"Al-Muhassab is not something (obligatory). It is merely a place where the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) alighted."* Abu Bakr (Ibn Abi Shaybah) said: The statement of Ibn 'Abbas (RA), *"Al-Muhassab is not something (obligatory)"*, means that it is not something that people are obligated to alight at. The negation of the name of the thing (i.e., its obligation) is based on the meaning that I have titled the chapter, for it is known that alighting at al-Muhassab is an action, and the name of a thing applies to the action, even if the action is permissible and not obligatory. --- **CHAPTER:**
