Narrated to us Naṣr ibn ʿAlī al-Jahḍamī, who said: Ṣafwān ibn ʿĪsā informed us, on the authority of al-Ḥārith ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Dhubāb, from Mujāhid, from Ibn Sakhbarah, who said: I went out in the morning with ʿAbd Allāh from Minā to ʿArafah. ʿAbd Allāh was a dark-complexioned man with two braids, wearing the garb of the desert-dwellers. He was reciting the talbiyah, and a crowd of people gathered around him—some ignorant folk—saying, “O Bedouin! This is not the time for talbiyah; it is only for takbīr (saying Allāhu Akbar).” So ʿAbd Allāh turned to me and said: “Have the people become ignorant, or have they forgotten? By the One Who sent Muḥammad (ﷺ) with the truth, I went out with the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) from Minā to ʿArafah, and he did not cease reciting the talbiyah until he stoned the Jamrah al-ʿAqabah, except that he would mix it with tahlīl (saying Lā ilāha illā Allāh) or takbīr (saying Allāhu Akbar).” **CHAPTER:**
