جناب شقیق بن سلمہ سیدنا عثمان بن عفان رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ اُنہوں نے وضو کیا تو اپنا چہرہ تین مرتبہ دھویا، تین مرتبہ ناک میں پانی ڈالا اور تین مرتبہ کُلّی کی اور اپنے سر کا مسح کیا اور اپنے کانوں کے اندرونی اور بیرونی حصّے کا مسح کیا، اور اپنے پاؤں تین بار دھوئے، اور اپنی داڑھی کا خلال کیا، اور پاؤں کی اُنگلیوں کا خلال کیا، اور فرمایا کہ میں نے اسی طرح رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو وضو کرتے ہوئے دیکھا ہے۔

حضرت شقیق بن سلمہ رحمہ اللہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ میں نے سیدنا عثمان بن عفان رضی اللہ عنہ کو وضو کرتے ہوئے دیکھا تو اُنہوں نے اپنے ہاتھ تین باردھوئے، کُلّی کی،ناک میں پانی ڈالا اور اپنا چہرہ تین بار دھویا، اور اپنے کانو کے اندرونی و بیرونی حصّے کا مسح کیا، اپنے دونوں پاؤں تین تین بار دھوئے اور اُنگلیوں کا خلال کیا، اور جب اپنا چہرہ تین بار دھویا تو اپنی داڑھی کا خلال کیا، اور فرمایا کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو اسی طرح کرتے ہوئے دیکھا ہے جس طرح تم نے مجھے کرتے ہوئے دیکھا ہے۔ عبد الرحمٰن کہتے ہیں کہ اور ان (استاد اسرائیل) نے دونوں ہاتھ کہنیوں سمیت دھونےکا ذکرکیا ہےمگرمیں نہیں جانتا کہ کیسےبیان کیا ہے۔ اما م ابوبکر رحمہ اللہ فرماتے ہیں کہ عامر بن شقیق، ابن حمزہ اسدی نہ کہ ابن شقیق بن سلمہ ہیں، اور شقیق بن سلمہ ابووائل ہیں۔
