Salam bin Junada told us, Waki’ told us, on the authority of Hisham bin Urwa, H, and Ali bin Hajr Al-Saadi told us, Jarir, H, narrated to us Yusuf bin Musa, narrated by Jarir, on the authority of Hisham bin Urwa, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Aisha, who said: The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to pray While he was sitting after he had entered the age, when thirty or forty verses remained of the surah, he stood up and recited them, then bowed, except that Ali, He said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, “did not recite any of the night prayers while sitting, until he entered the age.”

سیدہ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا بیان کرتی ہیں کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بوڑھے ہونے کے بعد بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھتے تھے، پھر جب سورت کی تیس یا چالیس آیات باقی رہ جاتیں، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کھڑے ہو جاتے اور اُن آیات کی تلاوت کرتے، پھر رکوع میں چلے جاتے۔ جبکہ جناب علی بن حجر رحمه اللَّه کی روایت میں الفاظ یہ ہیں کہ ”رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نماز تہجّد میں بیٹھ کر تلاوت نہیں کرتے تھے حتیٰ کہ جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی عمر زیادہ ہوگئی (تو بیٹھ کر تلاوت کر لیتے تھے)۔“

جناب عبداللہ بن شقیق کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے سیدہ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے پوچھا، کیا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھتے تھے؟ تو اُنہوں نے فرمایا، جب لوگوں (کی فکروں) نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو بوڑھا کر دیا تو اس کے بعد پڑھ لیتے تھے۔ جناب الدورقی کے الفاظ ہیں کہ اُنہوں نے فرمایا کہ ہاں، جب لوگوں (کی پریشانیوں اور فکروں) نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو بوڑھا اور کمزور کر دیا تو اس کے بعد (آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھ لیتے تھے۔)
