3584 - حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ : نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ : نَا عَوْفٌ قَالَ : نَا أَبُو رَجَاءٍ قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، [9/58] قَالَ : كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ وَأَنَّا سَرَيْنَا ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ حَتَّى كُنَّا فِي آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ وَقَعْنَا تِلْكَ الْوَقْعَةَ ، فَلَا وَقْعَةَ أَحْلَى عِنْدَ الْمُسَافِرِ مِنْهَا فَمَا أَيْقَظَنَا إِلَّا حَرُّ الشَّمْسِ فَكَانَ أَوَّلَ مَنِ اسْتَيْقَظَ فُلَانٌ ثُمَّ فُلَانٌ كَانَ يُسَمِّيهِمَا وَعُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ الرَّابِعُ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا نَامَ لَمْ يُوقَظْ حَتَّى يَكُونَ هُوَ الَّذِي يَسْتَيْقِظُ ، كُنَّا لَا نَدْرِي مَا يَحْدُثُ أَوْ يَحْدُثُ لَهُ فِي نَوْمِهِ فَلَمَّا اسْتَيْقَظَ رَأَى مَا أَصَابَ النَّاسَ وَكَانَ رَجُلًا أَجْوَفَ يَعْنِي عُمَرَ ، قَالَ فَكَبَّرَ وَرَفَعَ صَوْتَهُ بِالتَّكْبِيرِ ، قَالَ فَمَا يَزَالُ يُكَبِّرُ وَيَرْفَعُ صَوْتَهُ حَتَّى انْتَبَهَ بِصَوْتِهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمَّا اسْتَيْقَظَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَكَوْا إِلَيْهِ مَا أَصَابَهُمْ فَقَالَ لَا ضَيْرَ أَوْ لَا يَضِيرُ ارْكَبُوا فَسَارَ فَنَزَلَ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍ وَنَزَلْنَا فَدَعَا بِوَضُوءٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ وَنُودِيَ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ فَلَمَّا انْفَتَلَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ إِذَا هُوَ بِرَجُلٍ مُعْتَزِلٍ لَمْ يُصَلِّ مَعَ الْقَوْمِ فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَصَابَتْنِي جَنَابَةٌ وَلَا مَاءَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : عَلَيْكَ بِالصَّعِيدِ فَإِنَّهُ يَكْفِيكَ ثُمَّ سَارَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاشْتَكَى إِلَيْهِ النَّاسُ الْعَطَشَ فَنَزَلَ ثُمَّ دَعَا فُلَانًا يُسَمِّيهِ أَبُو رَجَاءٍ وَنَسِيَهُ عَوْفٌ وَدَعَا عَلِيًّا فَقَالَ : اذْهَبَا فَابْتَغِيَا الْمَاءَ أَوِ ابْغِيَانَا الْمَاءَ قَالَ : فَانْطَلَقَا قَالَ : فَتَلَقَّيَا امْرَأَةً بَيْنَ مَزَادَتَيْنِ أَوْ سَطِيحَتَيْنِ مِنْ مَاءٍ عَلَى بَعِيرٍ لَهَا فَقَالَا لَهَا : أَيْنَ عَهْدُكَ بِالْمَاءِ ؟ قَالَتْ : عَهْدِي بِالْأَمْسِ هَذِهِ السَّاعَةَ وَنَفَرُنَا خُلُوفًا فَقَالَا لَهَا : انْطَلِقِي قَالَتْ إِلَى أَيْنَ ؟ فَقَالَا لَهَا : إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ : إِلَى هَذَا الَّذِي يُقَالُ لَهُ الصَّابِئُ فَقَالَا : [9/59] هُوَ الَّذِي تَعْنِينَ فَانْطَلِقِي إِلَيْهِ فَجَاءَ بِهَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَحَدَّثْتُهُ الْحَدِيثَ فَاسْتَنْزَلُوهَا عَنْ بَعِيرِهَا وَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِإِنَاءٍ فَأَفْرَغَ فِيهِ مِنْ أَفْوَاهِ الْمَزَادَتَيْنِ أَوِ السَّطِيحَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ أَوْكَأَ أَفْوَاهَهُمَا وَأَطْلَقَ الْعَزَالِيَ وَنُودِيَ فِي النَّاسِ أَنِ اسْقُوا فَاسْتَقَى مَنِ اسْتَقَى وَسَقَى مَنْ سَقَى ، وَكَانَ آخِرَ ذَلِكَ أَنْ أَعْطَى الَّذِي أَصَابَتْهُ الْجَنَابَةُ إِنَاءً مِنْ مَاءٍ فَقَالَ : اذْهَبْ فَأَفْرِغْهُ عَلَيْكَ وَهِيَ قَائِمَةٌ تَنْظُرُ إِلَى مَا يُفْعَلُ بِمَائِهَا قَالَ : وَايْمُ اللهِ لَقَدْ أُقْلِعَ عَنْهَا حِينَ أُقْلِعَ وَإِنَّهُ لَيُخَيَّلُ إِلَيَّ أَنَّهَا أَشَدُّ مَلْأً مِنْهَا حِينَ أَسْقَاهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اجْمَعُوا لَهَا ، فَجَمَعُوا لَهَا مِنْ بَيْنِ عَجْوَةٍ وَدَقِيقَةٍ وَسَوِيقَةٍ فَجَمَعُوا طَعَامًا كَثِيرًا فَجَعَلُوهُ فِي ثَوْبٍ وَحَمَلُوهُ عَلَى بَعِيرِهَا وَوَضَعُوا الثَّوْبَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهَا " فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تَعْلَمِينَ وَاللهِ مَا رَزَئْنَاكِ مِنْ مَائِكِ شَيْئًا وَلَكِنَّ اللهَ هُوَ سَقَانَا " قَالَ : فَأَتَتْ أَهْلَهَا وَقَدِ احْتَبَسَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالُوا : مَا حَبَسَكِ يَا فُلَانَةُ ؟ قَالَتِ : الْعَجَبُ لَقِيَنِي رَجُلَانِ فَذَهَبَا بِي إِلَى هَذَا الَّذِي يُقَالُ لَهُ الصَّابِئُ فَفَعَلَ بِمَائِي كَذَا وَكَذَا فَوَاللهِ إِنَّهُ لَأَسْحَرُ مَا بَيْنَ هَذِهِ وَهَذِهِ لَإِصْبَعَيْهَا الْوُسْطَى وَالسَّبَّابَةِ وَرَفَعَتْهُمَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ يَعْنِي بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ أَوْ أَنَّهُ لَرَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَقًّا قَالَ : فَكَانَ النَّاسُ يَغْزُونَ فَيُغِيرُونَ عَلَى مَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَلَا يُغِيرُونَ عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَتْ يَوْمًا لِأَهْلِهَا مَا تَرَوْنَ الْقَوْمَ يُغِيرُونَ فَيُغِيرُونَ عَلَى مَنْ حَوْلَكُمْ وَلَا يُغِيرُونَ عَلَيْكُمْ فَجَاءُوا فَدَخَلُوا فِي الْإِسْلَامِ .

3584 - Amr ibn Ali narrated to us, he said: Yahya ibn Said narrated to us, he said: Awf narrated to us, he said: Abu Raja narrated to us, he said: Imran ibn Husayn, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated to me, he said: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on a journey, and we journeyed one night until we were at the end of the night, we fell that fall, and there is no fall sweeter to the traveler than it. So nothing woke us except the heat of the sun. So the first to wake was so-and-so, then so-and-so, he used to name them, and Umar ibn al-Khattab was the fourth. And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when he slept was not woken until he was the one who woke. We did not know what happens or happens to him in his sleep. And when he woke, he saw what befell the people, and he was a hollow man, meaning Umar. He said: So he said takbir and raised his voice with takbir. He said: So he kept saying takbir and raising his voice until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) woke by his voice. And when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) woke, they complained to him what befell them, so he said: No harm, or: it will not harm; ride. So he went and alighted not far, and we alighted. So he called for water for wudu, and performed wudu, and the call was made for prayer, so he prayed with the people. And when he turned from his prayer, there was a man apart who had not prayed with the people. So he said: O Messenger of Allah, janabah befell me and there is no water. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Upon you is the earth, for it suffices you. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went, so the people complained to him of thirst. So he alighted, then he called so-and-so, Abu Raja naming him, and Awf forgetting him, and called Ali, so he said: Go and seek water, or: seek for us water. He said: So they went. He said: So they met a woman between two waterskins, or two spreads, of water upon her camel. So they said to her: When was your covenant with water? She said: My covenant was yesterday this hour, and our people are absent. So they said to her: Go. She said: To where? So they said to her: To the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). So she said: To this who is called the Sabian. So they said: He is the one you mean, so go to him. So they brought her to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and she narrated to him the account. So they made her alight from her camel, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called for a vessel, so he poured in it from the mouths of the two waterskins or the two spreads, then tied their mouths and released the outlets. And it was called among the people that they water, so whoever watered, watered, and whoever gave to drink, gave to drink. And the last of that was that he gave the one whom janabah had befallen a vessel of water, so he said: Go and pour it upon you. And she was standing looking at what was done with her water. He said: By Allah, it was lifted from her when it was lifted, and it appears to me that it was fuller than when he watered it. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Gather for her. So they gathered for her between dates and flour and parched barley; so they gathered much food, and made it in a cloth, and carried it upon her camel, and placed the cloth before her. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to her: Know, by Allah, we did not diminish anything of your water, but Allah is Who gave us to drink. He said: So she came to her people, having been detained from them, so they said: What detained you, O so-and-so? She said: Wonder; two men met me and took me to this who is called the Sabian, so he did with my water such-and-such. By Allah, he is either the most magician between this and this, pointing her middle and index fingers, and she raised them to the sky, meaning between the heaven and the earth, or he is indeed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He said: So the people used to raid and raid those around her and not raid her. So she said one day to her people: What do you see, the people raid and raid those around you and do not raid you. So they came and entered into Islam.
