أَخْبَرَنَا الثَّوْرِيُّ , عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ , عَنْ ذَكْوَانَ , عَنْ كَعْبٍ , قَالَ : إِنَّ الصَّلاةَ ثَلاثَةُ أَثْلاثٍ ثُلْثٌ طَهُورٌ , وَثُلْثٌ رُكُوعٌ , وَثُلْثٌ سُجُودٌ , فَمَنْ حَافَظَ عَلَيْهِنَّ قُبِلْنَ مِنْهُ , وَمَنْ نَقَصَ فَإِنَّمَا يَنْقُصُ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ , أَخْبَرَنَا الثَّوْرِيُّ , عَنْ زُبَيْدٍ , عَنْ أَبِي الضُّحَى , عَنْ كَعْبٍ , مِثْلَ هَذَا , إِلا أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " مَنْ حَافَظَ عَلَيْهِنَّ قُبِلْنَ مِنْهُ وَمَا سِوَاهُنَّ , وَمَنْ ضَيَّعَهُنَّ رُدِدْنَ عَلَيْهِ وَمَا سِوَاهُنَّ "

Al-Thawri reported, from Abu Ishaq, from Dhakwan, from Ka'b, he said: Prayer is three thirds: a third purification, a third bowing, and a third prostration; whoever guards them, they are accepted from him, and whoever falls short, he only falls short against himself. Al-Thawri reported, from Zubayd, from Abu al-Duha, from Ka'b, the like of this, except he said: Whoever guards them, they and what is besides them are accepted from him, and whoever neglects them, they and what is besides them are thrown back at him.
