( 27 ) بَابُ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ 89 - حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُقْرِئِ ، قَالَ : ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، [1/38] عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ جَرِيرًا تَوَضَّأَ مِنْ مِطْهَرَةٍ ، وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ ، قَالُوا : أَتَمْسَحُ عَلَى خُفَّيْكَ ، قَالَ : إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْعَلُهُ ، قَالَ : فَكَانَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ يُعْجِبُ أَصْحَابَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُونَ : إِنَّمَا كَانَ إِسْلَامُهُ بَعْدَ نُزُولِ الْمَائِدَةِ .

EnglishUnverified translation

(27) Chapter on wiping over leather socks. Ibn al-Muqri narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Ibrahim, from Hammam ibn al-Harith, he said: I saw Jarir perform wudu from an ablution vessel and wipe over his leather socks. They said: Do you wipe over your leather socks? He said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) do it. He said: This hadith used to please the companions of Abdullah, saying: His Islam was only after the revelation of al-Ma'idah.

(27) موزوں پر مسح کا باب۔ ابن مقری نے ہم سے بیان کیا، کہا: سفیان نے ہم سے بیان کیا، اعمش سے، ابراہیم سے، ہمام بن حارث سے، انہوں نے کہا: میں نے جریر کو دیکھا کہ انہوں نے وضو خانے سے وضو کیا اور اپنے موزوں پر مسح کیا۔ لوگوں نے کہا: کیا آپ اپنے موزوں پر مسح کرتے ہیں؟ انہوں نے کہا: میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو ایسا کرتے دیکھا ہے۔ کہا: یہ حدیث عبداللہ کے ساتھیوں کو بہت پسند تھی، وہ کہتے تھے: ان کا اسلام تو مائدہ کے نزول کے بعد ہوا تھا۔

90 - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : ثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، قَالَ : ثَنَا بُكَيْرٌ ، يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَامِرٍ الْبَجَلِيَّ ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ ، قَالَ : بَالَ جَرِيرٌ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ ، فَعَابَ عَلَيْهِ قَوْمٌ ، فَقَالُوا : إِنَّ هَذَا كَانَ قَبْلَ الْمَائِدَةِ ، قَالَ : مَا أَسْلَمْتُ إِلَّا بَعْدَمَا نَزَلَتِ الْمَائِدَةُ ، وَمَا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَسَحَ إِلَّا بَعْدَمَا نَزَلَتْ .

Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, he said: Abu Nu'aym narrated to us, he said: Bukayr, meaning Ibn Amir al-Bajali, narrated to us, from Abu Zur'ah, he said: Jarir urinated and wiped over the leather socks, and people criticized him, saying: This was before al-Ma'idah. He said: I only embraced Islam after al-Ma'idah was revealed, and I only saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wipe after it was revealed.

محمد بن یحییٰ نے ہم سے بیان کیا، کہا: ابونعیم نے ہم سے بیان کیا، کہا: بکیر یعنی ابن عامر بجلی نے ہم سے بیان کیا، ابوزرعہ سے، انہوں نے کہا: جریر نے پیشاب کیا اور موزوں پر مسح کیا، تو لوگوں نے ان پر اعتراض کیا اور کہا: یہ تو مائدہ سے پہلے تھا۔ انہوں نے کہا: میں تو مائدہ کے نزول کے بعد ہی اسلام لایا، اور میں نے نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو مسح کرتے صرف اس کے نزول کے بعد ہی دیکھا۔

91 - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ بِشْرٍ ، قَالَ : ثَنَا يَحْيَى ، يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنِ التَّيْمِيِّ ، عَنْ بَكْرٍ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ بَكْرٌ : وَقَدْ سَمِعْنَاهُ مِنِ ابْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى نَاصِيَتِهِ وَعَلَى الْعِمَامَةِ وَعَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ .

Abd al-Rahman ibn Bishr narrated to us, he said: Yahya, meaning Ibn Sa'id, narrated to us, from al-Taymi, from Bakr, from al-Hasan, from Ibn al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah, from his father - Bakr said: and we heard it from Ibn al-Mughirah, from his father: that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed wudu and wiped over his forelock, over the turban and over the leather socks.

92 - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْغَزِّيُّ ، قَالَ : ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، قَالَ : ثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ رَجَاءِ بْنِ حَيْوَةَ ، عَنْ كَاتِبِ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَسَحَ أَعْلَى الْخُفِّ [1/39] وَأَسْفَلَهُ .

Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Amr al-Ghazzi narrated to us, he said: Abdullah ibn Yusuf narrated to us, he said: al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, from Thawr ibn Yazid, from Raja ibn Haywah, from the scribe of al-Mughirah, from al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah, may Allah be pleased with him: that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wiped the top of the leather sock and its bottom.

93 - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : ثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْهَاشِمِيُّ ، قَالَ : ثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَسَحَ عَلَى ظَهْرِ الْخُفَّيْنِ .

94 - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ خَشْرَمٍ ، قَالَ : ثَنَا عِيسَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ وَحَمَّادٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ الْجَدَلِيِّ ، عَنْ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : لِلْمُسَافِرِ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيهِنَّ ، وَلِلْمُقِيمِ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ ، فِي الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ .

Ali ibn Khashram narrated to us, he said: Isa narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from al-Hakam and Hammad, from Ibrahim, from Abu Abdullah al-Jadali, from Khuzaymah ibn Thabit, may Allah be pleased with him, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), that he said: For the traveler three days and their nights, and for the resident a day and a night, for wiping over leather socks.

95 - حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، قَالَ : ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، عَنْ مُهَاجِرِ بْنِ مَخْلَدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَعَلَ لِلْمُقِيمِ يَوْمًا وَلَيْلَةً ، وَلِلْمُسَافِرِ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيَهُنَّ فِي الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ .
