Amr ibn Abi Amr, the freedman of al-Muttalib ibn Abdullah ibn Hantab, from Anas. 2345 - Abu Tahir al-Mubarak ibn Abi al-Ma'ali informed us - by my reading to him, in the western quarter of Baghdad - I said to him: Hibat Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahid informed you - by reading to him while you listened, and he acknowledged it: Abu Ali al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn al-Mudhhib informed us; Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn Ja'far al-Qati'i informed us; Abu Abd al-Rahman Abdullah ibn Ahmad narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Yunus narrated to us; Layth narrated to us, from Yazid - meaning Ibn al-Had - from Amr, from Anas, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: I am the first of people for whom the earth will split open from around my skull on the Day of Resurrection, and no boast; and I shall be given the Banner of Praise, and no boast; and I am the master of people on the Day of Resurrection, and no boast; and I am the first who shall enter Paradise on the Day of Resurrection, and no boast. And I shall come to the gate of Paradise and take hold of its ring, and they will say: Who is this? And I shall say: I am Muhammad, so they will open for me and I shall enter, and lo, al-Jabbar will be facing me, so I shall prostrate to Him, and He will say: Raise your head, O Muhammad, speak and you shall be heard, say and it shall be accepted from you, intercede and your intercession shall be granted. So I shall raise my head and say: My nation, my nation, O Lord. And He will say: Go to your nation; whomever you find in his heart the weight of a grain of barley of faith, admit him into Paradise. So I shall go forth, and whomever I find in his heart that, I shall admit them into Paradise. Then lo, al-Jabbar, mighty and majestic, will be facing me, and I shall prostrate to Him, and He will say: Raise your head, O Muhammad, speak and you shall be heard, say and it shall be accepted from you, intercede and your intercession shall be granted. So I shall raise my head and say: My nation, my nation, my Lord. And He will say: Go to your nation; whomever you find in his heart half a grain of barley of faith, admit them into Paradise. So I shall go, and whomever I find in his heart the weight of that, I shall admit them into Paradise. Then I shall find al-Jabbar facing me, and I shall prostrate to Him, and He will say: Raise your head, O Muhammad, speak and you shall be heard, say and it shall be accepted from you, intercede and your intercession shall be granted. So I shall raise my head and say: My nation, my nation. And He will say: Go to your nation; whomever you find in his heart the weight of a mustard seed of faith, admit him into Paradise. So I shall go, and whomever I find in his heart the weight of that, I shall admit them into Paradise. And the reckoning of people will be finished, and those remaining of my nation will be admitted into the Fire with the people of the Fire, and the people of the Fire will say: What did it avail you that you used to worship Allah and associate nothing with Him? Then al-Jabbar will say: By My might, I shall surely free them from the Fire. So He will send to them, and they will come out having been scorched, and they will enter the River of Life, and they will sprout in it as the seed sprouts in the froth of the flood, and it will be written between their eyes: These are the freed ones of Allah, blessed and exalted. Then they will be taken and admitted into Paradise, and the people of Paradise will say to them: These are the dwellers of Hell. Then al-Jabbar will say: Rather, these are the freed ones of al-Jabbar. The hadith of intercession has been narrated in the Sahih from the hadith of Anas, except that in this narration there are wordings not found in it, and Allah knows best. Al-Bukhari narrated a hadith with the chain of al-Layth, from Ibn al-Had, from Amr, from Anas. Al-Nasa'i brought it, from Ibn Abdullah ibn Abd al-Hakam, from Shu'ayb, from al-Layth. And al-Darimi narrated it in his book, from Abdullah ibn Salih, from al-Layth.
