نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی زوجہ محترمہ سیدہ اُم سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہا بیان کرتی ہیں کہ میں نے عرض کی کہ اے اللہ کے رسول، میں اپنے سر کی چوٹی کو خوب مضبوطی سے باندھ کر رکھنے والی عورت ہوں، تو کیا میں غسل جنابت کے لیے اسے کھولا کروں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”تمہارے لیے اتنا کافی ہے کہ اپنے سر پر تین چُلّو پانی ڈالو پھر اپنے جسم پر پانی بہالو، تو تم پاک ہو جاؤ گی۔“ یا آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”پس تم پاک صاف ہو چکی ہوگی۔“ یہ مخزومی کی حدیث ہے۔ عبدالجبار نے «فاذا انت قد طهرت» کے الفاظ بیان کیے ہیں۔ انہوں نے «فتطهرين» کے الفاظ بیان نہیں کیے۔

حضرت عبید بن عمیر رحمہ اللہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ سیدہ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کو پتہ چلا کہ سیدنا عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی اللہ عنہ اپنی عورتوں کو غسل جنابت کے لئے سر کی چوٹیاں کھولنے کا حکم دیتے ہیں۔ اُنہوں نے کہا کہ ابن عمرو رضی اللہ عنہ کے اس حُکم پر تعجب ہے۔ اُنہوں نے تو اُنہیں مشقّت میں ڈال دیا ہے، وہ اُنہیں اپنے سر منڈانے کا حُکم کیوں نہیں دے دیتے، میں اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایک برتن سے غسل کیا کر تے تھے،اُس میں سے اکٹھّے (پانی لے کر غسل کرنا) شر وع کرتے تھے۔ تو میں تین لپوں یا (راوی نے) کہا کہ تین چُلّوؤں سے زیادہ (پانی سر پر) نہیں ڈالا کرتی تھی۔ یہ عبدالوارث کی حدیث ہے۔ ابن علیہ کی روایت میں ”ہم اس سے اکٹھّے شروع کرتے تھے۔“ کہ الفاظ نہیں ہیں۔ اُنہوں نے کہا یہ الفاظ بیان کیے ہیں کہ میں اپنے سرپر تین مرتبہ سے زیادہ نہیں ڈالا کرتی تھی۔
