3491 - And Ahmad ibn Mansur narrated it to us, he said: Amr ibn Asim narrated to us, he said: Hammam narrated to us, from Qatadah, he said: Four narrated to me from Mutarrif ibn Abd Allah, among them Yazid ibn Abd Allah and al-Ala ibn Ziyad, and two men whom Hammam forgot, from Iyad ibn Himar, may Allah be pleased with him, that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) delivering a sermon, saying in his sermon: Indeed Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, commanded me to teach you what you were ignorant of, of what He taught me this day of mine. Indeed all wealth that I have granted My servants is lawful, and I created My servants all as upright, and the devils came to them and diverted them from their religion and forbade for them what I had made lawful for them, and commanded them to associate with Me that for which I sent down no authority. And indeed Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, looked at the people of the earth and abhorred them, their Arabs and their non-Arabs, except remnants of the People of the Book. So He said: O Muhammad, I only sent you to test you and to test by you, and I sent down upon you a Book that water does not wash away, you recite it sleeping and awake. And indeed my Lord, the Blessed and Exalted, commanded me to burn Quraysh, so I said: O Lord, then they will crush my head and leave it like bread. He said: Expel them as they expelled you, and spend, it will be spent upon you, and send an army, I will send five like them, and fight with those who obey you those who disobey you. And He said: The companions of Paradise are three: a just, truthful, guided possessor of authority, and a man soft-hearted to every Muslim, and a chaste, charitable man. And He said: The companions of the Fire are five: a man whose greed is not hidden but he betrays it, and a man who neither evenings nor mornings except while deceiving you about your family and your wealth, and the weak who has no restraint, those among you who are followers. So a man said: O Abu Abd Allah, is he from the clients or from the Arabs? He said: He is the follower, who follows a man and obtains from his service illicitly without marriage. He said: And he mentioned miserliness and lying, or he said: lying and miserliness. And this hadith was narrated by Said ibn Abi Arubah, from Qatadah, from Mutarrif, from Iyad, so we did not mention it, because in the hadith of Said, Yazid ibn Abd Allah and al-Ala were omitted, and Qatadah did not hear it from Mutarrif, so we mentioned it from Hammam since he had connected it, and Awf corroborated him in his narration, from Hakim al-Athram, from al-Hasan, from Mutarrif, from Iyad.
