Yusuf ibn Musa narrated to us, Jarir ibn Abd al-Hamid narrated to us, from Umarah ibn al-Qa'qa', from Abu Zur'ah, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: A bowl of tharid and meat was placed before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the most beloved of sheep to him was the foreleg, so he took a bite, he said: I am the master of people on the Day of Resurrection. When his companions saw that he said: Will you not say how? They said: How, O Messenger of Allah? He said: People will stand before the Lord of the worlds, the caller makes them hear, and the sight reaches them, and the sun draws near their heads, and its heat intensifies upon them, and its nearness to them burdens them, and weariness and anguish reach them from what they are in, so they come to Adam - peace be upon him - and say: O Adam, you are the father of mankind, Allah created you with His Hand, and breathed into you of His spirit, and commanded the angels and they prostrated to you, will you not intercede for us to our Lord? Do you not see what evil we are in? So Adam will say: Indeed my Lord the Blessed and Exalted has angered today an anger like which He never angered before it and never will anger after it, and He commanded me with a command and I disobeyed Him and obeyed Satan; He forbade me from eating the tree and I disobeyed Him, so I fear He will cast me into the Fire, go to other than me, myself myself. So they go to Nuh, peace be upon him, and say: O Nuh, you are the prophet of Allah, and the first one sent, intercede for us to your Lord, do you not see what evil we are in? So Nuh will say: Indeed my Lord the Blessed and Exalted has angered today an anger like which He never angered before it and never will anger after it, and I had a supplication and I supplicated with it against my people and they were destroyed, and indeed I fear He will cast me into the Fire, go to other than me, myself myself. So they go to Ibrahim, peace be upon him, and say: O Ibrahim, you are the close friend of Allah, the people of the heavens and the people of the earth have heard of your close friendship, intercede for us to your Lord, do you not see what evil we are in? So he will say: Indeed my Lord the Blessed and Exalted has angered today an anger like which He never angered before it and never will anger after it, and indeed I fear He will cast me into the Fire. And he mentioned his saying about the star: This is my Lord, and his saying: Rather the eldest of them did this, and his saying: Indeed I am sick, go to other than me, myself myself. So they go to Musa, peace be upon him, and say: O Musa, you are the prophet of Allah, Allah chose you with His messages and spoke to you directly, intercede for us to your Lord, do you not see what evil we are in? So Musa, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, will say: Indeed my Lord the Blessed and Exalted has angered today an anger like which He never angered before it and never will anger after it, and indeed I killed a soul I was not commanded to, I fear He will cast me into the Fire, go to other than me, myself myself. So they go to Isa, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and say: O Isa, you are the prophet of Allah and His word and His spirit which He cast to Maryam, intercede for us to your Lord, do you not see what evil we are in? So he will say: Indeed my Lord has angered today an anger like which He never angered before it and never will anger after it, and indeed I fear He will cast me into the Fire - Umarah said: And I do not know he mentioned a sin - go to other than me, myself myself. So they come to me and say: You are the Messenger of Allah and the seal of the prophets, Allah has forgiven you what preceded of your sin and what followed, intercede for us to your Lord. So I go and come beneath the Throne and fall prostrating to my Lord the Blessed and Exalted, then I rise from it to a station none before me stood and none after me shall stand, so He says: O Muhammad, intercede and you shall be granted intercession, and ask and you shall be given. So I say: My Ummah, O Lord, my Ummah. So He says: O Muhammad, admit those upon whom there is no reckoning through the right gate, and they are partners of people in the other gates, so by the One in Whose Hand is my soul, indeed what is between the gate is farther than what is between Busra and Makkah, or Makkah and Hajar. Umarah said: I do not know which of the two he said. And we do not know this hadith to be narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) with this wording except from this angle, and we do not know anyone who narrated it from Umarah except Jarir.
