He said: The people of Madinah complained to him that they had dependents. He said: "Then eat, feed, and keep." Al-Jurayri said: I do not know whether in this hadith or in another he said: "And store."

They said: O Messenger of Allah, if you would permit us, we would slaughter our riding camels and eat and take oil. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to them: "Do so." 'Umar came and said: O Messenger of Allah, if they do that, mounts will become few; but call them with the surplus of their provisions, then supplicate for blessing over them - perhaps Allah will place blessing in that. He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called for a leather mat and spread it, then called for the surplus of their provisions. He said: A man would come with a handful of corn, another with a handful of dates, another with a piece of bread, until some of that gathered on the mat. He said: Then he supplicated for blessing over it, then said: "Take in your vessels." He said: They took in their vessels until they left no vessel in the camp but filled it. He said: And they ate until they were full. He said: And some remained over. He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah; no servant meets Allah with them without doubting but he is screened from Paradise."

زہیر نے ہم سے بیان کیا، ابو معاویہ نے ہم سے بیان کیا، انہوں نے اعمش سے، انہوں نے ابو صالح سے، انہوں نے ابو سعید یا ابو ہریرہ سے ـ اعمش کو شک ہوا ـ کہ تبوک کی مہم کے وقت لوگوں کو بھوک لگی۔ انہوں نے کہا: اے اللہ کے رسول، اگر آپ ہمیں اجازت دیں تو ہم اپنی سواری کے اونٹ ذبح کر کے کھائیں اور تیل لگائیں۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان سے فرمایا: ”کرو۔“ عمر آئے اور کہا: اے اللہ کے رسول، اگر انہوں نے ایسا کیا تو سواریاں کم ہو جائیں گی؛ بلکہ انہیں ان کے زاد راہ کی بچت کے ساتھ بلائیں، پھر اس پر برکت کی دعا کریں ـ شاید اللہ اس میں برکت رکھ دے۔ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے چمڑے کا دسترخوان منگوایا اور بچھایا، پھر ان کے زاد راہ کی بچت منگوائی۔ ایک آدمی مٹھی بھر جو لایا، دوسرا مٹھی بھر کھجور، تیسرا روٹی کا ٹکڑا، حتیٰ کہ اس میں سے کچھ دسترخوان پر جمع ہو گیا۔ پھر اس پر برکت کی دعا کی، پھر فرمایا: ”اپنے برتنوں میں لو۔“ تو انہوں نے اپنے برتنوں میں لیا حتیٰ کہ لشکر میں کوئی برتن نہ چھوڑا مگر بھر دیا۔ اور انہوں نے کھایا حتیٰ کہ سیر ہو گئے۔ اور اس میں سے کچھ بچ گیا۔ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں اور میں اللہ کا رسول ہوں؛ جو بندہ ان کے ساتھ شک کیے بغیر اللہ سے ملے گا وہ جنت سے روکا نہیں جائے گا۔“
