Abu Musa Ishaq b. Ibrahim al-Harawi narrated to us, al-Nadr b. Shumayl narrated to us, Abu Na'ama narrated to us, al-Bara b. Nawfal narrated to us, from Walan al-Adawi, from Hudhayfa, from Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) rose one morning, prayed the dawn prayer, then sat until forenoon came, then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) laughed; then he sat in his place until he prayed the first, Asr, Maghrib — all without speaking — until he prayed the last Isha; then he stood to his family; the people said to Abu Bakr: Ask the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) what is with him; today he did something he never did; he said: Yes; there was displayed to me what will be of the affair of this world and the Hereafter; the first and the last were gathered on one plain; the people were horrified by that and went to Adam, sweat almost bridling them, and said: O Adam, you are the father of mankind and Allah chose you; intercede for us with your Lord; he said: I met the like of what you met; go to your father after your father, to Nuh; Allah chose Nuh and the family of Ibrahim and the family of Imran above the worlds; he said: So they go to Nuh and say: Intercede for us with your Lord; Allah chose you and answered you in your supplication, so no dweller of the disbelievers remained on earth; he says: That is not with me; go to Musa, for Allah spoke to him directly; Musa says: That is not with me, but go to Isa, for he would heal the blind and the leper and revive the dead; Isa says: That is not with me, but go to the chief of Adam's children, for he is the first over whom the earth will split on the Day of Resurrection; go to Muhammad to intercede for you; so they come to me and I go with them. He said: So he sets out, and Jibril is called; he said: Jibril comes to his Lord, and Allah says: Give him permission and give him glad tidings of Paradise; he said: Jibril sets out with him, and he falls prostrate for the duration of a Jumu'a; then Allah says: O Muhammad, raise your head, speak and you will be heard, intercede and your intercession will be granted; he said: He raises his head, and when he looks at his Lord he falls prostrate for another Jumu'a duration; Allah says: O Muhammad, raise your head, speak and you will be heard, intercede and your intercession will be granted; he said: And he falls prostrate; he said: Jibril takes him by his upper arms; he said: Allah opens upon him supplication He never opened upon any human ever; he said: He says: O Lord, You made me chief of Adam's children, without pride, and the first over whom the earth splits on the Day of Resurrection, without pride, until there comes to my Hawd more than between Sana'a and Ayla; he said: Then it is said: Call the truthful, and they intercede; he said: Then it is said: Call the prophets; he said: A prophet comes, peace be upon him, with a group, a prophet with five and six, a prophet with none; he said: Then it is said: Call the martyrs; he said: They intercede for whomever they wish; he said: When the martyrs finish, he said: The Blessed and Exalted says: I am the Most Merciful of the merciful; admit to My Paradise whoever did not associate anything with Me; he said: They enter Paradise; then Allah says: Look at the Fire, is there anyone who ever did any good? He said: They find in the Fire a man, and it is said to him: Did you ever do any good? He says: No, except that I was lenient in selling; Allah says: Be lenient to My servant for his leniency to My servants; then he is brought out of the Fire; he said: And another man, and Allah says: Did you ever do any good? He says: No, except that I ordered my children when I die: burn me, then grind me, until when I become like kohl, take me to the sea and scatter me in the wind; he said: Allah says: Why did you do that? He says: From fear of You; he says: Look at the dominion of the greatest king, for you have its like and ten likes of it; he says: Do You mock me while You are the King? And that is what I laughed at in the forenoon.
