31 - Abu al-Husayn Abd al-Haqq ibn Abd al-Khaliq ibn Ahmad ibn Yusuf informed us, in his book — and my maternal uncle the Imam Abu Muhammad Abd Allah ibn Ahmad, may Allah have mercy on him, informed us from him — that Abu Ghalib Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ibn Ahmad al-Karkhi informed them: Abu Tahir Abd al-Ghaffar ibn Muhammad ibn Ja'far al-Mu'addib informed us: Abu Ali Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn al-Hasan ibn Ishaq al-Sawwaf informed us: Bishr ibn Musa narrated to us: Abu Abd al-Rahman, who is al-Muqri, narrated to us: Sa'id, who is Ibn Abi Ayyub, narrated to us: Abd al-Rahman ibn Marzuq narrated to me, from Zirr ibn Hubaysh, from Safwan ibn Assal al-Muradi; he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: 'Allah opened a door for repentance from the west, seventy years' journey; it is not closed until the sun rises from its direction.' Many imams narrated this hadith from Asim ibn Abi al-Nujud; among them one who mentioned part of it, and among them one who narrated it in full. Sufyan, Zayd ibn Abi Unaysah, Za'idah, Zuhayr ibn Mu'awiyah, Hammam ibn Yahya ibn al-Harith, Abu al-Ahwas, Ikrimah ibn Ibrahim, Abu Awanah, Mis'ar ibn Kidam, Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad, Amr ibn Qays al-Mula'i, Mubarak ibn Fadalah, Khalid ibn Kathir al-Hamdani, Malik ibn Mighwal, Ali ibn Salih, Rawh ibn al-Qasim, Shayban, Sa'id al-Jurayri, Salih ibn Salih, Habib ibn Hassan, Ziyad ibn al-Rabi' al-Yuhmadi, and others narrated it from him. Imam Ahmad narrated it from Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar; and from Sufyan ibn Uyaynah; and from Yahya ibn Adam, from Sufyan, from Asim; and from Affan, from Hammad ibn Salamah; and from Hasan ibn Musa, from Hammad ibn Zayd, in similar form. Al-Tirmidhi narrated it from Ibn Abi Umar, from Sufyan; and from Ahmad ibn Abdah al-Dabbi, from Hammad ibn Zayd, both from Asim, in similar form, and said: Hasan sahih hadith; and from Hannad, from Abu al-Ahwas, from Asim, part of it (wiping), and said: Hasan sahih hadith. He narrated: A man loud-voiced came and said: O Muhammad, a man loves a people... the hadith abridged, from Mahmud ibn Ghaylan, from Yahya ibn Adam, from Sufyan; and from Ahmad ibn Abdah, from Hammad ibn Zayd, and said: sahih hadith. Al-Nasa'i narrated it from Muhammad ibn al-Nadr ibn Musawir, from Hammad, from Asim, and in it there is no wiping; and from Qutaybah, from Sufyan (wiping); and from Ahmad ibn Sulayman, from Yahya ibn Adam, from Sufyan al-Thawri, Malik ibn Mighwal, Zuhayr, Abu Bakr ibn Ayyash and Ibn Uyaynah, from Asim; and from Muhammad ibn Abd al-A'la, from Khalid ibn al-Harith, from Shu'bah; and from Amr ibn Ali and Ismail ibn Mas'ud, from Yazid ibn Zuray', from Shu'bah. Ibn Majah narrated it from Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah, from Ubayd Allah ibn Musa, from Isra'il, from Asim (the story of repentance); and from Abu Bakr, from Sufyan (the story of wiping). There is narrated 'There is no one who goes out seeking knowledge' to his saying 'pleased with what he does,' from Muhammad ibn Yahya. Abu Bakr ibn Khuzaymah narrated it in his Sahih as we mentioned it. Abu Hatim al-Busti narrated 'O Muhammad, with a loud voice' from al-Husayn ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Ma'shar, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Amr al-Bajali, from Zuhayr ibn Mu'awiyah, from Asim.
