Ayahs 191–200 of 206
Do they associate with Him those who create nothing and they are [themselves] created?
Explained together with ayah 189
And the false deities are unable to [give] them help, nor can they help themselves.
Explained together with ayah 189
And if you [believers] invite them to guidance, they will not follow you. It is all the same for you whether you invite them or you are silent.
Explained together with ayah 189
Indeed, those you [polytheists] call upon besides Allah are servants like you. So call upon them and let them respond to you, if you should be truthful.
Truly those on whom you call besides God, whoever they may be, be they humans or otherwise, are servants like you, in terms of [their] incapacity and lack of effective agency; call them then, for something which God has not facilitated for you, and let them answer you, and facilitate it, if you are truthful, in attributing effective agency to other [than God], as in where the Prophet said to Ibn ʿAbbās, 'Young man: be mindful of God and He will be mindful of you. Be mindful of God and you will find Him looking towards you. If you ask [for something], ask [it] of God. If you seek assistance, seek the assistance of God and know that if the [entire] community were to agree to benefit you with something they will not benefit you except with something that God will have prescribed for you, and that if they were to agree to harm you with something, they will not harm you except with something that God will have prescribed against you [already]. The [heavenly] pens have been put aside and the scrolls [of divine decree] have [had their ink] dried'.
Do they have feet by which they walk? Or do they have hands by which they strike? Or do they have eyes by which they see? Or do they have ears by which they hear? Say, [O Muhammad], "Call your 'partners' and then conspire against me and give me no respite.
Have they feet wherewith they walk: an interrogative meant as a denial, in other words, do they have feet by which they do not walk, nay it is by God [that they walk or not], since it is He who makes them walk with them, as is the case with all of their other limbs. Say: 'Call upon your associates, from among the jinn or mankind, then scheme against me, if you can, for the One who is in charge of my affair, my Preserver and the One governing me is:
Indeed, my protector is Allah, who has sent down the Book; and He is an ally to the righteous.
God Who, instructs me by revealing [to me] the Book, and He takes charge of, every righeous one, that is, every one who subsists through Him in the state of uprightness. As has been related [in one report] by 'righteous person', according to the description of one of the prophets, is meant the one who subsists in the Truth through uprightness and fixity after annihilation in the source of the union, the one who upholds the amending of the species by the leave of the Truth.
And those you call upon besides Him are unable to help you, nor can they help themselves."
Explained together with ayah 196
And if you invite them to guidance, they do not hear; and you see them looking at you while they do not see.
And you see them staring at you, but they do not perceive, in other words, if you were to call to guidance those from among the idolaters or others upon whose hearts there is a seal, they will not listen or obey. You will see how that despite the soundness of their perception and sight, they do not perceive the Truth nor your reality, because in reality they are blind in their hearts.
Take what is given freely, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the ignorant.
Take to pardoning and command the honorable and turn away from the ignorant. The command came from the generous, lovingly kind Lord, the Lord God of all lords and mas- ters, the generous and gentle in name and mark, to MuḤammad, the Seal of the Prophets and the emulated of the world's folk: " O master, pass over the sins of the sinners, cover over their defects, and draw the pen of pardon across the register of the bad-doers. O master, take from Us a pleas- ing character, praiseworthy activity, truthful speaking, and peace with the people; be the friend of the good in companionship and attend to them in seclusion. O master, I am a clement Lord and I love the clement. I hear the unworthy from enemies and I see their insolence in private, but I keep the curtain lowered over them. I do not hurry to punishment, I offer them repentance and pardon, and I call them back to My Threshold, for if they desist, He will forgive them what is past [8:38]. " Among the traditions has come that God says, " You called upon Me, and I said 'Here I am!' You asked from Me, and I bestowed upon you. You stood up against Me, and I gave you respite. You left Me, and I took care of you. You disobeyed Me, and I curtained you. So, if you return to Me, I will accept you. If you turn away from Me, I will wait for you. " He is saying, " My servants, My creatures, you called out to Me, and I answered with 'Here I am.' You asked for blessings from Me, and I bestowed gifts. You came out foolishly, and I gave you respite. You put aside My command, and I did not take away My kind favor from you. You disobeyed, and I lowered the curtain over you. With all of this, if you come back, I will accept you, and if you turn away, I will await your coming back. I am the most munificent of the munificent and the most generous of the generous. " In a report has come, " When an old man repents, God says, 'Now?! When your strength has gone and your appetite has been cut off? Indeed, I am the most merciful of the merciful, indeed, I am the most merciful of the merciful.
And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is Hearing and Knowing.
And if any insinuation from Satan should provoke you, that is, [if] some goading or powerful urge should impel you to dispute with them by seeing acts as issuing from them and ascribing sins to them, seek refuge in God, by witnessing and being present before His agency, He is Hearing, able to hear the conversations of the soul and the evil whisperings of Satan in the breast, Knowing, of intentions and secrets.
