1060 - Aslam ibn Sahl al-Wasiti narrated to us, Wahb ibn Baqiyyah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Muzakki narrated to us; and al-Qasim ibn Abbad al-Khattabi narrated to us, Ishaq ibn Buhlul al-Anbari narrated to us, my father narrated to us; and Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Hadrami narrated to us, Rizqullah ibn Musa narrated to us, Shabbabah ibn Sawwar narrated to us, they said: Abd al-A'la ibn Abi al-Musawir narrated to us, from Ikrimah, from Umm Hani bint Abi Talib, she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) spent the night in which he was taken by night in my house, and I missed him in the night, so sleep was kept from me fearing that some of Quraysh had confronted him. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Jibril came to me, took my hand and brought me out, and upon the house was a beast smaller than a mule and larger than a donkey, so he carried me upon it, then set out until he brought me to Bayt al-Maqdis. He showed me Ibrahim, whose build resembles my build and my build resembles his; he showed me Musa, tall, lank-haired, I likened him to the men of Azd Shanuah; he showed me Isa son of Maryam, of medium stature, fair inclining to redness, I likened him to Urwah ibn Mas'ud al-Thaqafi; and he showed me the Dajjal, with effaced right eye, I likened him to Qatan ibn Abd al-Uzza. And I wish to go out to Quraysh and tell them what I saw. So I took his garment and said: I remind you by Allah that you will come to a people who will drive you away and deny your saying, and I fear they will assault you. She said: So he pulled his garment from my hand, then went out to them, came to them while they were sitting, and told them what he told me. Then Jubayr ibn Mut'im stood and said: O Muhammad, had you been young as you were you would not have spoken this while among us. A man of the people said: O Muhammad, did you pass by camels of ours in such-and-such place? He said: Yes, by Allah, I found them having lost a camel of theirs and seeking it. He said: Did you pass by camels of so-and-so's sons? He said: Yes, in such-and-such place; a red she-camel of theirs had broken, so I found them, and with them was a bowl of water, so I drank what was in it. They said: Tell us their number and what herdsmen are in them. He said: I was distracted from their number. Then he stood, the camels were brought, so he counted them and knew what herdsmen were in them, then came to Quraysh and said: You asked me about the camels of so-and-so's sons, and they are such-and-such, with such-and-such herdsmen among them, and you asked me about the camels of so-and-so's sons, and they are such-and-such, with Ibn Abi Quhafah and so-and-so among the herdsmen, and they will meet you in the morning at the mountain pass. He said: So they went in the morning to the pass to see whether what he said was true, met the camels, and asked: Did a camel of yours stray? They said: Yes. Then they asked the other: Did a red she-camel of yours break? They said: Yes. They said: Was there a bowl with you? Abu Bakr said: By Allah, I placed it, and none drank it nor spilled it on the ground. And Abu Bakr deemed him truthful and believed in him, so he was named al-Siddiq that day.
